Lakshmi Manchu's Speak

Lakshmi Manchu feels she is part of Indian Cinema at the right time. She talks about her Hindi debut and home productions is conversation to Sangeetha devi dundoo

A few hours before boarding her flight to the US to join her brother Vishnu Manchu and Viranica(the couple was blessed with twin girls in Friday), Lakshmi Manchi is a bundle of nerves as we catch up with her in her office in Jubilee Hills on ablamy morning.

2011 has been a memorable year. The year opened with her making adebut as an evil witch in Anaganaga O Dheerudu. The much-hyped Walt Disney production sank but Lakshmi walked away with appreciation.

Lakshmi is also working on her next next Telugu home production Oo Kodathara ulikki Padathara Starring Balakrishna and Manoj. She feels she is at the right place at the right time. "years ago, when Supriya(grandDaughter of Akkineni Nageshwara Rao) and Manjula (doctor of actor Krishna) wanted to act, fans went berserk. Thank God things have changed. The samepeople who protested against famous daughters entering the industry buy tickets to watch my film today," she asserts.

She was recently in Rajahmundry scouting locales and is over-whelmed by the love and affection of teh local population for her family. Her television talk shows, she feels, have made people connect better with her."people are scared to come up and talk to my dad, but they open up to me. I had no idea television was such a powerful medium," she says.

While working on Prematho Me Lakshmi, she realised who her real friends were. "Those who I thought were just a phone call away were the toughest to get on board. And those who I thought would turn down my interview requests immediately agreed," she says. But her new talk shoe series will have to wait. "I am producing a Telugu-Tamil bilingual in which I eill be acting," she informs. Before she signs off, she reflects, "I've realised I cannot be a people pleaser. If I want everyone to like me, there is something wrong with me. When in doubt, I am guided by the words of my acting coach Richard Lawson: 'Your art cannot go through other people's morality'."

Music Director Anil- It's An Accidental Murder

Ever since the death of music director Anil Reddy, his soul must be getting tormented with the way his body is being dissected. Well, news is that one more post mortem has happened. Meanwhile, his fiancĂ©e is reportedly absconding. Now, another speculation has begun to make rounds from close sources of the girl’s family.

They say it is not a deliberate murder but accidental. Small tiff may have happened between Anil and the girl’s family members. Some small argument must have gone haywire. The girl is reportedly still in shock and is absconding as she is not in a position to take the questions from media or others.

Well, the truth will be known once forensic report comes today or tomorrow (3rd postmortem result). But the closest that one can get is, Anil’s death could be the result of an accidental murder but the girl’s side is trying to project it like a natural death. Let us hope this is the final post mortem which will reveal the truth.

Annayya Gets Thammudu's Wishes

Akkineni family’s third generation has entered cinema industry. Sumanth, Sushant and now Naga Chaitanya has got the tag of chocolate boy. From a lover boy’s image, Chaitu is arriving to rock the mass audience with his ‘Dhada’ today.

In this situation, ‘Sisindri’ Akhil has wished his Annayya all the best. Akkineni fans reveal that soon Akhil also will be making his debut in film industry. He has been showing a lot of interest in films these days. Meanwhile, many say ‘Dhada’ will be a festival for Akkineni fans. Akhil also gave his best wishes to hero Ram and his ‘Kandireega’ which is releasing in one day’s gap.

While Akhil is confident about success, Naga Chaitanya is busy urging all to curb piracy.

RR Venkat- 'Bhola Shankar' Or 'Lord Venkat'?!!

The first name that comes to the mind in filmnagar folks when asked about the top banner, it is R R Movie Makers. While they are expanding their presence in film production, they have now entered into film distribution as well. But then, their take off has been a disaster.

R R Movie Makers came up with their debut distribution venture ‘Dhada’. Now, the box office experts are saying “They should have been careful before lifting this film. It may not matter to them in terms of money but if they continue taking up such films, their banner value will come down.”

They added “It is not a big deal for them to take those risks but when industry folks get a feel that R R Movie Makers is ready to lift any ‘Cheththa’, they will not show in interest in making quality films and come up with poor quality flicks. For all, the R R banner is like Tirumala of Tollywood. It must have its aura not like Bhola Sankar.”

As for Venkat, the owner of R R Movies banner, the folks say ” He must be like Venkateshwara Swamy, his name is Venkat but his heart is like Shiva, he should give blessings only to those who are good with films and not to everyone. That way, his image and credibility will also be maintained.” Wonder what Venkat will do to make amends.

Chandrababu's Worries On Mokshagnya

As if the existing political conditions in the state and his own party are not enough, it is heard that Chandrababu Naidu has now got another worry. This is in the form of Mokshagnya, son of Nandamuri Balakrishna. Well, sources reveal Naidu has already started to get worried about him.

With the likes of Allu Arjun, Ramcharan going in for other caste girls, Naidu is reportedly tense whether Mokshagnya will also marry someone from different caste. As such, he personally supervised Junior NTR’s marriage. So, the chances are high that he would be looking into the matters of Mokshagnya as well.

Naidu’s close sources reveal he has been thinking on angles like What are the political setbacks? What will happen if Mokshagnya merges with another community through marriage etc. But the political experts say “Today, all castes should come together for a party, only then success is happening in politics. If Chandrababu sticks only to Kamma philosophy, he cannot win anything. Already, TDP and Nandamuri brands have developed the reputation of a Kamma forte. It is about time Babu thinks on more urbane levels.”

Sundeep Is All Set To Shake His Booty

Item songs are the latest fad in the Indian cine circuit. Usually, it is the top league heroines or glamorous bombshells who create the spice. But now, the time has come for the men to make their mark as well. Soon, a Bollywood hero would be gearing up to groove for a Telugu item song.

This is for the film ‘It’s My Love story’ and the man in focus is Sundeep Kishan who made a mark for himself in Bollywood with the film ‘Shor In The City’. Speaking about his song in the film, director Madhura Sreedhar said “Sundeep is brilliant actor and has got huge craze in youth with Snehageetham, Prasthanam and Shor In The City.”

He added “Sundeep is always ready to experiment and do something new. Doing item numbers is almost new in Tollywood and Sundeep is my first choice for the item number. Thanks to Sundeep for accepting. I am introducing a hot girl from Mumbai opposite him”.

Sources say the opening line of the song goes ‘Gallate..galllate…’ and the highlight is, it is a mix of Telugu, Hindi and Tamil lyrics and it is a situational item song.
