With each passing day, the economics of Tollywood has been dwindling sharply and despite big ticket flicks and big names associated with it, the end result is a squib at the box office. Now, the film analysts are predicting that if this trend continues, the Tollywood circuit will soon become like Sandalwood.
A senior cine analyst said “Our quality of cinema has gone down drastically. I am surprised that a dubbed movie like ‘Naa Peru Shiva’ which has released here after one year has come in 44 theatres and that too in Hyderabad alone. This means so many theatres are empty and waiting for a proper Telugu film.”
Another market expert opined “In the recent past, all Tamil movies which came in dubbed version became a commercial or critically acclaimed hit. The likes of ‘Vaishali’ ‘Rangam’ ‘Vaadu Veedu’ ‘Naana’ ‘Kanchana’ are classic examples. Our folks have become helpless and have lost all the creativity. If this continues then our industry will become like Kannada circuit.” wonder what the Tollywood folks have to say to this.
